The first grade side has started well on the first day of play against the higher placed Marist Brothers side. After losing the toss and fielding the Bar boys led by Luke (junior) Shay bowled out the Brethren for 174 on a perfect batting strip at Oakes Oval. Luke Shay finished with 5/24 and Brett Crawford took 4/54.
The Bar then finished on 0/22 with both Kane Hamilton and Mick Warburton looking in total control against the Brethren opening bowlers.
Good Luck next week boys.

The first grade boys had two losses over the weekend to start the new year off in a very poor way.
The first game was against East’s and after having them 6 for 80 the boys let them reach 149 off 40 overs. Lucas Wagland finished with 3 wickets in an outstanding opening spell of swing bowling. Luke Shay with an almighty hangover blasted a quickfire 38 runs but the boys fell 16 runs short of the total.
On Sunday they played South’s in the one day competition . Duncan Elphick won the toss and elected to bat and they only managed to score 142 runs off 40 overs with Brett Crawford top scoring with 64 runs.
After dropping Richard Nind first ball of the innings the day never got better and the South’s team reeled in the runs after the 30th over to gain a bonus point.
To make the year that much more difficult Captain Duncan Elphick retired from the Captaincy after Sunday’s game. He pointed to poor form with the bat and believes this will be a positive step towards the first graders making a late cahrge towards the semi finals and grand final.
Lets hope Duncan can find some form and make an impact with the first grade side for the remainder of the year.
