For those of you who may be interested Barry Cheadle has just posted a really good profile ex Tintenbar player Greg Fryer on the Ballina Info blog in his series of profiling local Ballina identities. Many of us have had a great deal to do with Greg over the years so be sure to post a comment and pass on any stories (good or bad) that you may have about him at the end of Barry’s article.

Dec 16 twas the Bars night for Santa. Santa means Xmas & Xmas means drinking. So when I turned up to a wet Kingsford at 1pm to face off with our old foes The Teddy Bears, I told the opposing skipper that it was in my best interests not to start drinking at 1pm but rather a much later hour so as not to peak on my run to early at the club Xmas party. So we tossed a coin & after much deliberation they decided to bat. Everything was wet & demoted 1st grade speedster “Bubba shrimp” Lacey was spraying the new pill around everywhere, in fact he sprayed it around 10 times in the first over, “bring out the hook” I says, at the other end “Boony” Mills is letting them go nicely. I brings myself on from the Northern end & pick up a quick bag of 4 wickets, Boony picks up a couple & we have them 8/81 & looking like an early day. We then sprayed them around again until Choppy Thick takes out his spriggs & has a trundle, he bags one & drops a simple C & B & finally we get em out for 182 a lot more than we had hoped. Warbo, Choppy & Stormin O’Neill pick off the runs with ease after a minor hiccup being Bubbas DUCK. The win scoots us out in front on the table. Up The Bar

The first grade boys had two very comfortable wins over the weekend. The first was against Norths on Saturday with Kane Hamilton showing great patience in scoring 59 no and Mick “Pubes” Gabriel belting 44. We chased down the required 155 with the loss of 4 wickets and good bowling performances by Jordan Waugh, Newey and Luke Shay.
On Sunday we faced the undefeated one day side Marist Brothers on a good Oakes Oval deck. However this game became very one sided and the Brethren would been better spending time at church rather than turning up on Sunday because they were skittled for 87. Bluey chipped in with 5 for 6 off 8 overs and Luke Shay picked up 2 wickets. This total was chased down in the 25th over and we also picked up a bonus point.
The big bonus for the night would have been how much money was saved on the lights as they were only turned on for an hour or so. Good win boys, keep up the good work this weekend against Easts.

I finally won a toss & decided to let our strong batting line up cut loose on a Kingsford belter. Hooter & Choppy took the shine off the new pill with the middle of their blades setting up a strong platform for Stormin O’Neill, Tugga & in particular Higgo to capitalise on, Condom Ansell & Dave “son of Don” then played little cameos at the end to give us 255 after 45 overs.
Slippers Mills then steamed in & finished the game as a contest within his first 6 over spell. He finished with a bigger sack than Santas “& nearly as big as Waynos swollen suckers” to get 6 for 11 off 8, game over. Despite some comfy wins so far we still are dropping more catches than Phil Jacques (the reason he aint in the team everyone) & once we start clinging onto these we will be unbeatable. UP THE BAR

Former Lennox Head player Jordan Waugh has ripped through the Norths Goonellabah batting line up to take 5/30 off 9 overs and restricting them to 155 all out. In reply Tintenbar East Ballina are 2/64 with 16 year old Kane Hamilton showing maturity beyond his years batting through till stumps with 19 no. Kent Shay looked good and was run out late in the day for 33.
With the boys needing only 91 runs it should be an early day in Lismore for the first graders.
